The city of lights is more of a City of Stairs. My feet and legs are aching so much from a day in Paris. Stairs after stairs, up the stairs, down the stairs. no wonder the girls here have hot legs.
the achiness in my feet will not get me down from seeing more of Paris. Today, we'll be cultured young ladies, appreciating paintings and sculptures, keeping quiet and thinking deep into the world of the artist. haha Musee du Lourve.
and it's free entry from EU students on Sunday! yay! saved 16euros=)) paid for the audio guide though for 6euros. it's quite fun, taking the audio guide around, clicking n clicking on it. i think the museum will be a bore if it wasnt for the audio guide. Let's go on a Masterpiece tour around the museum. Shall we?
Starting with the basement of the Sully wing is the Lourve Medieval. the entire museum used to be a palace of King Louis. and that explains the high brick wall and fortresses out on display.
and this sculpture is the Aphrodite aka Venus de Milo. there were a lot of commentary about this sculpture on the audio guide. haha but i cant remember them.. =Xand this one The winged victory of Samothrace. which was used to be placed somewhere else in the museum, gained popularity after being placed at the steps landing of the museum. and finally the famous Mona Lisa! it's such a small painting and no one can get near it except the guard. appreciate it from afar, behind the barriers. have to squint my eyes to even see the details of the painting. there were like 50people standing there waiting to see the painting. this huge painting depicts a wedding reception i think, Jesus was invited to. and there at the corner right, is the first miracle(according to the audio guide) which Jesus performed. Turning water into wine.of course there are still many sculptures and paintings to be seen in the museum, but we were very pressed for time. still another place to visit.
