I'm on exchange!

Getting addicted blogging from my iPhone, thing is it's so much easier.

Well, this week is such a bad one. Firstly I had an essay dued, it's on management & leadership. Discuss the 6 elements in organisation design with respect to the 2 extreme forms of management. I can even memorize the question having read it countless times to keep on track.

That done, I've got a stupid exam next Monday and it was bothering me ever since the start of the week. My first examination abroad. Procrastination in the works again I know. C'mon I'm on exchange! Getting very stress over it although I'm only aiming for a D! It's so difficult to get rid of that competitiveness in me, the need to do well still present. Singaporean.

Celebrated yugandhar's birthday on Wednesday, and we had a curry party for him, 2 types of curry for him to feast on, Korean & Singaporean. Hope he liked it because I sure did! And there goes one day that was meant to be for studying.

Happy birthday yugandhar

you are a soccerholic

Yet again, it is another weekend in Germany. i didnt venture into new land today, because im going to Mainz to watch a soccer match! *wooooots* Mainz Vs Freiburg. Moo got 4 tickets for daljoon, david, himself and me. everyone told me when u go to europe u gotta watch soccer matches! it'll be awesome. well they're right! it's awesome awesome. despite the fact that this was just a local match, not the big EPL match, it was great! definitely. look at my soccer ticket! hehez =) this is my 2nd time watching a official football match, this time i watched it in the cold! no more hot hot malaysia stadium! hehez look at the number of people getting into the stadium...excited*

it was a sold out match and the stadium is a really small one, so no matter where we seat, it'll be near the field. but booooo! we got lousy tickets! =X not anyone's fault, but we were just unlucky. there was a big fat pole right in front of us! goshhh...couldnt even see the goal post. thank godness, there were empty seats in the front and i gladly went in front to catch the match. hehez
the atmosphere was awesome awesome, everyone so patriotic towards their home team, even old people as old as 80 came in Mainz jersey, cap and scarf. kids at the age of 4 were also in their Mainz gear and cheering their fav team on. u'll nv get that in spore. looks at that sea of red!
and the final score, 3 to Mainz and 0 to Freiburg.

you give me happy butterflies and tummy flips

brrrr! the weather is turning real cold. it's autumn now and the vineyards that lined my way to school aint pretty no more. they're all brown and shrivelled up.

sometimes it's just too cold to get to school on a bike. starting to wear my padded winter jacket, thermals, gloves and beanie.

2 months on a foreign land and im still trying to adapt to their way of life and especially the weather. i decided to go for a hair cut today after joe told me the hairdresser could understand English.

it was such a scary experience, because i dont know what to expect. tyler told me before, angmohs dont know how to cut asian hair. the hairdresser was kinda rough with my hair, tugging and pulling, and snipping huge lengths off. trying to fake a smile, i told her im fine. it cost me 15 euros to cut and wash. after washing she handed me the hair dryer and said to me, dry it yourself. i was like HUUUUHH?!

my hair didnt turn out as bad, maybe a little shorter than i expect. i've practically got bangs now, oh well at least it's easier to maintain, i'll just cut it myself if there is a need.

sweet surprise today =)

he gives me sugar coated happy butterflies

somewhere in my heart.....

initial plan of going to Stuttgurt was cancelled the night before due to the long travelling hours. Deutschbahn has control over my life.

but im not gonna waste my weekend away! no way! after staying home for 2 whole days, thursday and friday. i had to get out of oestrich winkel!

even if it means going to Frankfurt, im happy =). went for a Sushi buffet which cost me 15Euros, a great variety of sushi and other types of chinese food, although comparing to singapore's buffet the food quality wasnt that good, but for a chinese food deprivation me, anything is good, even beansprouts!
after 2 rounds of eating, sungho, liyin n me just couldnt stuff any other food in anymore. haha and we left and start our shopping adventure throught the street of Frankfurt. i didnt have anything i really need badly, but i ended up with these....

face & hair masks from H&M. i badly need hair products for my tresses. it's so dry right now because i cant find a suitable conditioner here to moisturise. and face mask too because, my skin is always so dry too, and rough now for some reason i've yet to know.

shoes. addidas shoes. haha okay some of u may say those shoes arent me. which is quite true too. but seeing everyone here having these high cut shoes, i want one too! besides, my sneakers are already chui beyond chui. good excuse, hehez dont ask me how much are these. when i think about it, i dont even wanna wear them out.=X it doesnt look good on photos though.earrings from H&M. again back to H&M, i guess the only shop i buy things from is H&M. haha it has too many stores. 3 H&M stores along 1 street, 3 storeys each, how can i miss them. haha desperately need a change of earrings.
dinner was a no-no today due to the heavy buffet lunch and the amount of things i bought. eeks=X but there's always room for dessert at an Eis Cafe. the europeans truely love their ice cream, it's everywhere and it's real good. i had kiwi ice cream on top of banana nutella crepes.

sinful but lovely. =)

Happy Birthday Moo!

happy 2* birthday Moooo!

Thursday was Jinmoo's birthday, turning another year older. just an interesting note, do u know, in korea, when u're born, u're considered 1 yr old. they start counting once u're in your mommy's tummy. and add another year when it's new year. haha i feel so old now. =P

once again, we wanted to have a surprise for moo but we failed because he walked into the kitchen with the birthday cake on the table. oooops! haha

this is my first time making gimbap! look look! daljoon says if it turns out ugly i'll have to eat what i made. haha n i gladly accept that. =)and this is the korean ramyun and rice cake that david whipped up! it was so delicious that rosa said he will marry david for that. =P i've got the recipe from david too. and after awhile, all the food on the table was gone! haha seriously, it's that delicious.

after moo's birthday we headed to the Mexicans' place for a party along with everyone else. it was real crowded in their pad, much more people than the previous time. we had a great time nonetheless.

bootcamp survivors! yeaaaah!

all smiles baby

the original plan was to head back to Oestrich-Winkel the next day at 1pm. but there was a change of plans. we're going Sansoucci park! yipppeeee!

beautiful sansoucci park was as beautiful on sunday morning , it was a cloudy rainy day =( but nonetheless im still happy to be there! huge grounds, pretty fountains, magnificant sculptures. i wanna be a princess living in a castle.it was only a short stopover, an hour. wasnt enough to cover the whole place. and guess what, liyin n i were only late for 3minutes and the bus left without us! =O but thank god they found us. it was so embarrassing though when we went up the bus =P .

i really wanna make another trip back here.

all smiles =).

tonight's gonna be a good good night

*yawns* i only had 4 hours of sleep last night. 8 pple 1 toilet, i guess u can imagine the chaos in the morning. sungho came up with a schedule for each of us, 15mins in the bathroom is all u get.
stomped down to the breakfast area after washing up, the spread was actually not bad. the usual angmoh breakfast, cereal, yogurt bread ham, cheese and fruits. for the price we're paying, not bad. and then we're off to our 3hrs tour arranged by the school. first stop! the legendary berlin wall which separates east and west berlin. the tour guide was quite entertaining compared to the frankfurt one at least. downside was, we only have 15mins to snap as many pictures as we can at the berlin wall. personally love this picture below, very well done =) knowing me, i've snapped lots of photos, practically running along the stretch of wall to take photos. the rest are on facebook.
*smuackssss*
another thing to look out for is the traffic lights in berlin. i cant remember whether it was east or west berlin. it's call Ampleman, a variation from the normal one used, the red man is dressed in a coat and a hat.
and i tot we get to get down at every tourist attractions, but to my disappointment, we just sit in the bus and watch those sights go pass from the window while the guide told us the history. booo! i wanna go to the Reichstag and the Brandenburg Gate! -.-"the second stop was Charlie Checkpoint, one of the 3 checkpoint in berlin, there's still a remaining "checkpoint" in the middle of the street, surrounded by tall skyscrapers, where the past meets the present. it wasnt that interesting, prolly the main point here was to stop and have a coffee break. and it was back to sitting in the bus. -.-"
the last stop was Museuminsel(Museum Island) it's called that because there were lots of museum in that area, 3 main ones and other privately owned museum are situated there. and also it was lunch time! marcus and lonely planet recommanded this vietnam restaurant, he said it's a must try but he forgot to tell me i have to try the fishcakes -.-" haha
on the way to the restaurant, we could hear lots of shouting from a a few blocks. according to our guide, there is a protest at Alexanderplatz between the Nazis and Anti Nazis. i didnt even know Nazis existed still, how dumb =P jason n i wanted to go take a peek but i guess it was too dangerous to do so.

after lunch, liyin n i went our seperate ways because we're not very museum inclined pple, we're gonna walk around the city and perhaps catch some of the must see places. in the end, we spent most of the time at the "shopping" district which carries many unique brands. It's like Haji lane but 10 times bigger! haha i love the holga n lomo but hmmmz too expensive.

after the street, we come to the Berliner Dom, at first sight, i tot it was one of those museum, but as u inch closer, u see the interior of the dom and wow, im so impressed, and i thought the one at cologne was pretty, this one was better! love the interior of the cathedral, it was circular cathedral unlike any other, with a huge organ consisting of 7200 pipes. photos dont do justice to the beauty of the church, u've got to see it for urself.

and before leaving the dom, i made a small donation, got a candle and lit it up, thanking god for you =)we went to the basement of the dom, entered a room, thinking it was a museum, but it wasnt. i was shocked to see so many coffins layed out at the basement of the church, intrinsically carved coffins. more than 50 coffins of the late royal family, kings, queens, princes n princesses. a little freaked out after that.

decided to stroll along the streets of berlin after the dom, a short stopover at the flea market for some curry wurst! famous in berlin. it's basically the normal wurst fried in oil and topped with bbq sauce and curry powder.
met the rest of them outside the museum, and we strolled to our dinner place. making another stop at the asian supermarkt. and check these out! frozen durians! haha =P
it started raining really heavily when we got out of the markt. and since it was still early for dinner, we camped out in one of the bakery for some hot drinks. man, it's cold out there brrrr..before heading for dinner at Alex's.

was suppose to club again, but everyone was simply too tired to do that, so we bought drinks back to the hostel instead, snacks n all. had a great time chit chatting in the cozy room. with jason turning all red after soju n beer. haha i feel asleep after awhile on my bed.

4am, ella woke me up, to talk -.-" haha she just came down from the top deck and snuggled into my bed, n i woke up, the rest of them were still awake for some reason. but i wanna sleeeeep =P
talked to them for awhile in the dark and went back to sleepy land again =)

im happy. =)

What a beautiful day

woke up in the morning for german class on a friday. it was a beautiful and lovely friday and i'm loving it =)

life is great.

leaving for berlin in the afternoon. i was away for the weekend. half hoping i could just stay home actually =P.

preparations started the night before, had to pack my bag and i brought so many things, for one thing, i get to dump my backpack into the bus and only carry it for a short distance to the hostel.
meeting point was at the Schloss campus and we set off at 11.45am for Berlin. it was a really long long bus ride. almost 11hrs? with stops along the way of course. camwhored in the bus before falling asleep.
and this is the hostel we stayed in. it's called Singer109 if im not wrong. best hostel i've stayed in so far. for 17Euros a night, it was great. we had a 8bed room, 4 double decks. i got the lower deck booo=( but anyhow, it was a huge room with a huge bathroom. overall it was great and cosy at the same time, with 8 friends living tgt.
i was not gonna waste the day away. having sat in the bus for 11hrs, wasted my friday. i just cant wait to see the city and oops maybe club! quite set on clubbing actually because Berlin is actually quite famous for that. hee yeun n me were the only 2 energetic ones while the rest were hesistant abt going to a club.

that's the club at first glance, after a 20mins walk from the hostel. with 2 wrong turns, we finally managed to find the club. it looks like a old warehouse, kinda cool and david found 40 euros on the floor. lucky boy. at least he paid all our cover charges which cost 3 Euros each if u're a student. compared to the $30 we pay to enter clubs in spore. WOW!anyway there were 3 rooms in the club, one with R&B and hiphop, second with techno and the third one trance/electronic. okay okay i know i've been saying in spore i hate trance, but hehehez im addicted to it =X ooops
the legendary Berlin wall which stood right outside the club. will see more of it tomorrow!

The day after in Cologne

8am was morning call, but li yin had a really bad time trying to wake me up because, it's simply tooo early in the morning. i felt so tired and uncomfortable when i woke, one thing is for sure, it was so cold, and i was sleeping in my jeans the entire night. no change of clothes.

the initial plan for this morning was to climb that 500 steps dom and to go to the cologne shop. daljoon had to go to the korean supermart to get supplies for int'l fair. so i was left with liyin sungho and yingyong.

initial plan was totally abandoned. instead, we went for a nice, non-rushing breakfast at a cafe and shopping! wanted to get Ugg boots from forever18 but there wasnt any size left. and liyin n i waited outside the H&M shop like 2 losers i swear. haha

along the shopping district, there's this shop called Lush, they sell handmade soaps. It is pretty interesting shop, the soap bars are really pretty and unique, they look edible and delicious actually, check it out! and then daljoon called, oooo no more shopping! we went to the Cologne shop, the original one in Cologne. If my sources are right, cologne actually originated there. of course i cant resist the temptation of buying a bottle home for myself. i love pretty bottles! =) cologne is actually flowing out of that tap u see in the photo.
and these are my loots from the trip to Koln.

Koblenz & Koln

had to wake up pretty early on Sunday, im leaving the house at 9.10am to catch the 9.30am train to Koblenz which is 1 hr away from Oestrich Winkel.

it was actually a pretty disappointing trip i would say. like what we learn in economics class, marginal utility decreases as we get more of the same thing. castles, monuments and churches.

Koblenz
There are actually many places worth seeing as provided in the tourist infomation guide brochure but we only went for 2. The first one was the Festung Ehrenbreitstein Fortress that is 118m above the Rhine. It is over a 1000 years old and is one of the strongest fortresses preserved. From above, u can see the whole city, it is over looking the Deutsches Eck German corner.
It took us almost 30mins to climb up, and lunch at the huge grass patch next to the fortress. we packed lunch again! yeah the entrance to the fortress is free. there isnt much to go WOW about, it's just high walls and that's about it. The weather suddenly turned really cold, strong winds. Swoosh we go into the cafe @ the Fortress for some hot choc and cakes =) yum yum.Second place we went to is the Deutsches Eck German Conrner. Which has a huge monument of emperor Wilhelm I on a horse. This is where Rhine river and Moselle rivers merged. We took some pictures with the monument as background and left for Koln.

oh and that's Ying yong( hopefully i spelt his name correctly). Daljoon's good friend who came to pay us a visit from Budapest, Hungary.
Koln aka Cologne
the train ride to Cologne took us about 1.5hrs. We arrived there at around 5pm. It is a pretty big city with lots of commuters. I had 2 main objectives. The first one is to visit the Dom and second is to go to the Chocolate Museum.

Kolner Dom is the largest cathedral in Germany. It is located right next to the Koln Haputbahnhof(train station). The dom is weather-beaten and blackened with age. It looked gothic liked and is 157m tall! 509 steps leading up to the top of the tower. We skipped that part and went inside the church. Beautiful interior and amazing architecture. to think they construct it centuries ago with primitive building methods, must be a huge feat. The way the supporting arches are structured gave the dom an even more magnificant look.
In the dimly lit church lies the Shrine of the 3 Magi. It contains the bones of the 3 Wise Men. We were not allowed to go in but looked from the gates surronding it.
Chocolate Museum, the only museum im interested in going. we went on a train and then tram and on foot, took us 15mins. and booo hoooo by the time we reached there, it was already closed =( sigh. that's so disappointing. only got to go into the museum shop where they sell a gazillion types of chocolates. bought some of course, if not what's the point =P
after all the rushing, it's finally dinner time already. we got to catch the 8.30pm train and we've only got 1.5hrs to find the restaurant recommanded by the guide book. Searched for Sion Brauhaus for almost 20mins and we couldnt find it. Due to the time constraints, we settled for another restaurant which we find, hmmmz should be alright.

we ordered pork knuckles! finally. one each. which was a very bad idea because it's huge! really huge with mash potato at the side and sour kraut. i ordered the crispy pork knuckles and it taste a lot like the shao zhu in singapore. really delicious! yum yum =P price very nice also.

and this is the 200ml beer i had. it's good compared to the rest i've had at home. it only cost me 1.60euro.
we had to rush thru dinner, which is the thing i hate most. rushing everywhere we go, even at dinners. booooo to catch the bloody train. it's the last train too btw at 8.30pm. wth. guess that's being a spoilt little singaporean.

and guess what, we missed the last train! gosh, and the next is at 5am! got to stayover in cologne which im secretly happy about. hehez =X that's because we managed to find a hostel to stay the night, if not it'll be the benches in the train station. the hostel is just a mere 5 mins away from the station. It's called Station. we got a 5bed room to ourselves. it wasnt as good as it looks on the guidebook but who cares! the downside was, i didnt have any clothes to change, no moisturizer, no tower and toiletries. gonna be a smelly girl the next morning =P
